Pietta's California line became so popular so fast they had to broaden the offering. Naturally they took what worked (and popular) and spiffied it up a bit adding a casehardened frame and a checkered walnut grip. Same as the original Californian only a tad more sophisticated. Still has all the functionality and performance as the foundational gun just a bit prettier.
